        Maybe they have got wind of an announcement about the result of the police investigation into Angela Rayner. IF she were to be found guilty and had to resign, it would cause chaos in the middle of an election campaign.

        Highly unlikely that it is that and, presumably, no announcement would be made during a period of purdah.

          Well she couldn't be found guilty in that time but yes if they decide to charge her it could make things pretty awkward.

            Yes, sorry, badly worded - even an announcement that she was going to be charged would give them ammunition. As I said, probably nothing to do with that but it seems, on the face of it, to have been a sudden decision.
