It will have been agreed when he signed that if we go down he can leave. He will be offered more money and will get a chance to play in Europe again, good luck to him.

No complaints from me. There were many that thought he was injury-prone and definitely not a Luton type signing. It wouldnt work. Me included. He came to us, grafted all season to prove himself. Didn't let himself or the club down and has earned his chance to be playing for top money in the top league and also champions league. 👏

Agree. I thought he would be primadonna who was out for his last pay cheque.

Couldn't have been more wrong. Totally committed to the cause all season and never hid even when things were going against us.

If he moves on, I really hope he enjoys success as he's worked bloody hard for it.

If we stayed up I believe he still would have gone. He is a quality player with limited time left for champions league and international football.

I thank him for what he did for us. You could never, ever question his commitment.

Agree. Would have been even more damaging as it will be very difficult to find someone even half as effective for the Championship, would have been impossible in the Premier League.

No problems with me, I would thank him dearly for the efforts he put in through the season. Worked his socks off every game he played, can't begrudge him champions league football hes bloody earnt it as far as I'm concerned.

Nah, good luck to him, enjoyed watching him, we should screw Villa for as much as we can get though. Hope he gets to play in the Euros.

Its part an parcel of football, get a grip.

Fair point but the money offered trumps everything. A pretty short career, you've got to earn your cash.

you have two - three years left
you are being offered tens of thousands more per week
you might play at Real Madrid away next season, or old Trafford
you might make it back into the England squad

                            or

                            you will start every game
you will play at the new den and the kassam stadium
                            you will be adored

Loyalty is not part of football for players and managers - and to be fair I am sure Villa are offering at least x2 or x3 what we could pay him in the Championship. He repaid us by producing a number of great performances and starting 30 plus games so I think he is fine to leave on that score alone.

Macdonald moved for money Bingham moved because he didn't want to play golf 2nd division football, no difference since professional football started. Just accept we are a selling club its how we survive its called business

Exactly - he is 30 so he has no time to waste earning 30% of what he can - lets be honest too (and fans have to accept it) you don't get to be a pro footballer at any level without ambition
