Power Court to open 2027-28 season - Sweet

Posted by Earls on 19/5/2024, 13:42:31

Gary Sweet confirms in today’s programme notes that Power Court will open for the 2027-28 season, with the 23k maximum capacity straight away.
Says there’s a small chance that might need to be pushed back to 2028-29 season, if test events don’t go to plan. Either way, will the thick conspiracy theorists give it a rest, at least on that subject?

3/4 years of healthy bonuses for GS. Sounds like 2029/30 will be more realistic. 23k is very ambitious as there are only 7k season ticket holders.

So August 2027 is 3 years and 3 months away. I think including all snagging/ test events/licenses etc etc we should assume 2 year build so on site August 2025 - year and 3 months away. That means there are 15 months to discharge all conditions and fully complete the site ready for construction. That is certainly do-able (subtract at least 2 months as nothing happens over Xmas and August in terms of public sector) but obviously tight. The club need Luton Council fully behind them e.g. in discussions with Env Agency etc to push these people into agreeing discharges etc etc. So yes it is possible but challenging. It does make sense however to build it asap because the longer you leave it the more it costs

              So I wasn’t wrong was I……..

28/29 is still the most reliable date.

So GS how about explaining why we held back on team strengthening FIVE years out?

(this message will no doubt be removed)

Except you’re a lying fool. 2027-28 is the most likely date. Nobody has told you anything to the contrary.
I told you when you first posted your lie - based on knowing the 2027-28 date then - that you were wrong. Yourclaim that your own invented date is more likely, based solely on your own needy pessimism, is pathetic.

I was told 2028 at the Brentford game.

                    28/29 most likely starting season.

Even GS has admitted today that is when it could be.

It was not a lie, gaslighters questioning the date because it was me who said it.

You lied and said “I’ve been told.” Nobody told you anything, you overheard some inaccurate info in the pub. 2027-28 is the more likely date - 80% opening then.
Flouncing because you’re again claiming your overheard horseshit is correct - rather than, y’know, Gary Sweet - really, really isn’t gaslighting.

Most of us on here will be aged between 55 and 75 when this ground is finally built.

Gone from taking the children, to the grand children and likely great grand children to the first match.

What annoys me is that this was all known a year ago but rather than be honest we noted that our spending would be curtailed to pay for PC.

That justification and excuse has pretty short sighted wasn’t it.

Well it hasn’t been removed yet, has it?

I honestly don’t think we’d have spent any more if we weren’t building a new ground. And I’d be absolutely fine with that. Being safe and secure for the future outweighs a bit of extra time in the premier league.

IMO it was nothing to do with funds.
There just weren’t any players available in jan, with premier league experience , who fit what we’re about.

No one really did any business in Jan. we signed Hashioka who has taken time to get used to the league and club. I’ve still not seen one person name a realistic signing we could’ve made in January. If we’d have signed someone we didn’t really want to just for cover we’d now be stuck with them for next season. And these relentless moaners would now be moaning about that.
