Our Premier League income this year

Posted by Sandgrounder on 17/5/2024, 22:22:49

About £110 million based on an article in the Athletic (if we finish 18th). Takes into account payments from uk and international tv rights, income from games we had televised and the merit payment. Parachute payments will be another 88.6 million, so we’ll have earned £198.6 million from our promotion. Not bad!

I've see lots of figures mentioned, from 100 to 132 million for just this season. The figure I've seen quoted most is 106,4m plus 1.2million for every live televised match (facility payment). We had 10 live games so in total about 118 million. Parachute payments make it 207 million.
This club is now on a completely different level to what it was a year ago and with 2020 managing the finances the future looks very bright.k

That’s insanity! So with a couple of player sales, we’re looking at upwards of a further 100 million in the coffers.

There’s really no reason why we can’t give it a really good go at coming back up!

Do you have a link to the article?

Do you think that's all profit and in the bank then? Or do you maybe wonder that we may have spent a little in transfers, wages, upgrading KR, upgrading the brache, the academy and putting a but into pc?

No need to sound so condescending; clearly you have misunderstood my post.

I’m not advocating spending the majority of the parachute payments on the transfer budget for the first team squad. A small fraction of the 100+ million (including a couple of player sales) would put us in a very strong position to be in the promotion mix.

Then of course, a proportion of the payments will also need to be invested in the clubs infrastructure, academy and power court.

Wouldn't a small portion of it give us an average championship budget? Certainly a big and very welcome upgrade but we wouldn't be one of the biggest hitters.

RE has said a couple of times in the last week that we will be one of the ‘stronger clubs budget wise’ as a result of the parachute payments. My interpretation of that is we will have a slightly higher than mid table budget, certainly for the next couple of seasons. If we don’t achieve promotion, the finances will have to be readjusted accordingly.

I think we’ll be more ambitious than a lot of people on here give us credit for, but of course this will be done sensibly, without spending beyond our means.

The key is keeping expenditure sensible. Its not like we have a spare 100 million just for fees. It is also going to depend on all those new contracts we handed out. And if they have relegation clauses (aka i`m a prem footballer get e out of here). And if they do have relation clauses will players say i an earn 4 times as much by moving?

Having sid that 20 million spend would be a serious investment. i dont think we wil do that.more poaching out of contract players. topped up with loans. it sort of worked apart from relegation

Sensible for sure, but it doesn't mean we have a serious ability to spend. This is why I don't get the pessimism of some by targetting mid-table / L1 players.

Note the opening post does not mean we'll get another £88M to spend immediately.

-It'll be £110M this season (IF Luton gets a draw at least on Sunday, if not, it'll be ~£107M).
-Next season will be £43.6M in parachutes plus maybe another £12M in EFL TV income because of the new deal coming up.
-If Luton fail to get promoted in 2025, they'll receive a further £35.6M.
-Teams that have spent more than 1 season in the PL consecutively will receive an additional £16M. This won't apply for any of the relegated clubs this year.
-The PL teams next season will net an additional £5.2M each because of the saving of parachute payments next season.

Parachute payment will be higher than £43.6 million. Is 55% of central tv revenue in year one. Premier league are getting £103 million back in parachute payments this year as Leicester and one of Leeds or Southampton getting promoted, so year 1 PP must be £51.5 million
