That game was my favourite one of that season, particularly as we came back to win 3-2 after being 2-0 down. His goal against Southport was also one that lives long in the memory. Had Hereford not beaten Newcastle in the FA Cup it was rumoured he would have joined them and re-ignited his partnership with Malcolm Macdonald. RIP Viv.

I still fondly remember his goal at the Kenilworth Road end in the 1-0 victory over Southport in 1970 that virtually assured us promotion.

Ouch! That one hits home. I knew Viv very well from the day he signed. I was asked to meet him at the club offices
on the day he signed to take him down to Dunstable Road and sort him out a bank account . Lovely unassuming guy RIP Viv

Fitting that the minute's silence or applause will be against Fulham as he played for them as well including the 1975 FA Cup Final.

He was also in the Newcastle team beaten by Hereford.

I remember Busby causing Hull's defence all sorts of problems when we beat them 3-1, and Malcolm Macdonald (who missed a penalty that day) was full of praise for his performance in his post-match interview. RIP Viv.

He scored one of the best individual goals I’ve seen which was at Leyton Orient. My recollection is it was a fairly meaningless end of season game and the goal was a consolation. Picked up the ball on the wing and beat several players before slotting it in. On his day a very exciting player who had a great career. Rest in peace.

                                    RIP indeed.
Viv typified (together with Big Mac, Don Givens, John and Jimmy Ryan and others) the flowing, dynamic and really attractive football of those
days which my Dad, my brother and I so much loved.
As Ronnie Scott used to say, "you have made a happy man feel very old."
