    Away ticket summary for 23-24

Posted by Billy The Kid on 2/5/2024, 10:44:47

Games that sold out in seconds (9)
Brighton, Chelsea, Fulham*, Man Utd, Brentford**, Crystal Palace, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham.

Games that sold out to season ticket holders at some point during the priority period, usually a few hours (5)
    Liverpool, Forest, Villa, Wolves, Bournemouth***

Games that sold out at members with previous purchasing history stage (2)
    Everton, Newcastle,

Games that sold out to anyone with a booking history (1)
    Man City

Games that didn't sell out (2)
    Shef Utd, Burnley

Regular Season Ticket holders who didn't do 6+ aways last year and weren't able to log in at 10am on the dot could have still done 9 aways.

Member with a previous purchasing history could have still done 5.

*Fulham sold out within 20 mins but that was because of that weird queue

**Brentford never made it to regular season ticket holders

***Bournemouth kept coming back on sale and may have made it to member's sale after returns but initially sold out to season ticket holders.

    Cup Games
Exeter and Bolton didn't sell out and if Everton did, it had reached general sale.

I live in the South West and normally attend 6-7 “local” away games a season but this year I was able to get away league tickets for Everton, Forest, Villa, Bournemouth (2nd match), Man City and home end tickets for the games at Fulham, Man Utd, Palace, Bournemouth (first game) and Wolves.

On the face of it I’m happy with the number of games I’ve been able to get tickets for and obviously it would have been great to go to the big games I think the system was fair

They've nailed it this season with the way they've allocated tickets.

Absolutely. While I was queuing once I heard one of the staff calmly trying to explain to someone that just because they told their child they’d get tickets for Liverpool at home it really wasn’t that easy.patience of saints

              Could not agree more!

If you couldn't do 6 aways last year where we only sold out one league game, then you should not have had any preference for this year.

              The 6+ things worked superbly

Good summary, I didn't do 6 aways last year and got 9 this season, so you're on the money there.
                Definitely bravo ticket office.

It was always going to be a problem and the system used has been as fair as it could be with demand exceeding supply in most cases.

There is one relatively small group who missed out. I know someone who has been on the waiting list for a season ticket since he moved to the area. He did virtually every away game last season but has struggled to get tickets this season as he doesn't have a season ticket.

Having said that, there is no system that will cover every scenario and the one used has worked well. One possible improvement would be to say that, where there are only a small number of tickets available to a particular group (for example, STHs who did fewer than six), anyone eligible could apply and then have a ballot. There are some people who, because of work, can't access a computer at 10 am on a weekday. The website is, by all accounts, a lottery even if you can use a computer.

Let's hope that we have a similar issue with demand for away tickets next season although, even if we stay up, I think that more tickets will become available to those further down the queue.

                    Agree on all counts!

To counter the 10am online, they tried to do some via phone at 10am but so many people trying it's almost impossible to get through.

I hope you sorted this person out some away tickets this season with your connections?

I don't have any connections that I can (or would) use to get tickets.

I suppose that another option where demand is high might be to have an additional category (four away games last season?) before it goes to all STHs.

I have heard numerous suggestions for how it could have been done but, strangely, the person making the suggestion would always have got more tickets with their suggested system

Brentford didn't even make it to "six aways" from last season - only game to do that, I think?

That was our worst away performance this season, so those that didn’t get a ticket may think they were lucky not to be able to do so

Very true Outsider, but of all the new grounds, it was the one that disappointed me as it seemed to lack character (particularly being cramped in between all the flats).

                        Yep.

New ground and small allocation didn't help.

Was up to something like 19 aways from last season.
