I recall going up to WBA on the Soccer Special to Smethwick Station that day. A great day of celebration. However, after the game it was a matter of keeping your wits about you, as you dodged bricks being lobbed between the platforms by the two sets of supporters. Always amazed me as a young lad that some were oblivious to what was occurring and surprised when they were nearly hit by the projectiles. The joys of watching football in the 70’s !!!
