Living in the town of Luton I have seen no material benefit at all so described by some of the media. The towns profile has gone up in the media both tv and on paper but that's about it. Bringing communities together, that is very debatable. What does that actually mean? The town is still has mini ghettoes within it. The postcode wars are still going on. Nothing has really changed. There may be a lot of work in the communities that now form this town from the FC but they have always done that what ever league we find ourselves in and well done on the work that has gone on. Don't believe the hype. Luton was pretty much an edgy place to live before the PL came in to our lives and still is now and will be when it leaves. The only real difference that will make a significant difference is PC. The activities not only on match days but outside of those days is what will make a significant change and difference. If we go down and then don't return for a few seasons when we do return we will have a new ground and a bigger support in the new stadium to go with it, that will make a difference on the pitch as well as off it. Not being negative but there are two of us in my street who support the FC, the rest don't care don't speak English and couldn't careless about football or what the media are saying about communities coming together, by in large its a fantasy to suggest otherwise. The FC can only do so much. So this isn't a dig at them far from it. Change comes from politics being the main driving force, if I look at the town hall then all I see is people who mean well but only have eyes for the cash cow that is Luton airport and have really taken their eye off changing the town for the better, their 2040 initiative is a complete joke and far to far away to have a significant and material change on the town and its communities!

You have probably described most towns up and down the country. Living in Northampton there are postcode wars, mini ghettos , a town centre that offers nothing apart from coffee shops, a council leader who has had to resign after leathering his past five partners, i could go on. Unfortunately my family travel to MK for clothes or Christmas shopping. I could quite easily walk around Luton town centre, it has more to offer than Northampton town centre. Luton has more to offer than you think.

Has more to offer. No chance it’s been going down hill for years , you go into our town centre and then tell me it’s got more to offer. I fear for the young today , no way would I let young girls go into there on there own now , the wife has even stopped going down there now as she feels intimidated. Sad really

Good grief! As a female senior citizen, I have no such feelings.

You're no Greta Garbo, so unless they're after your money I imagine you'd be safe.

You tell me NaG. But if they have it's probably in your best interests to stay away.
Friends of mine, born in Luton and now live in Eaton Bray won't go near the town centre and do their shopping in MK.

Well, as I say, I don't feel any intimidation walking through Luton.

Which is why so many of our fans come to matches from far and wide. I bet 50% of them have long since upped sticks and moved for a better life and a more peaceful existence, their only interest in the town now being the football club.
I don't blame them. Perfectly understandable and for the sake of their families a very wise decision.
