Offsides

I am watching the Middlesbrough v Leeds game. Leeds 3rd goal blatantly offside and I was thinking I would still prefer that and accept the officials decision rather than waiting for VAR. At least you know straight away a goal is a goal. The very marginal decision for Coventry’s marginal offside in my view makes a mockery of the game.

Offside was introduced to stop goal hanging. Never intended to be about toenails - no advantage is achieved and the game is not any "fairer" - level is level in so far as the trained eye can see (i.e. a fully trained assistant referee). VAR if it has any use should only be used in clear errors and the decision should be taken only by the naked eye within 10 seconds
