Disappointed in the club

Should've released a statement by now regarding the FA Cup.
Come on Gary & 2020, why are you being silenced on this? Surely we would've voted against this so why not state it?
I contacted Fair Game yesterday (LTFC are members), they replied "We have asked this. And not a single Fair Game club has supported it. The noise has been one of unequivocal anger".
On the lost revenue, I know that the future of Cambridge United was secured by their replay with Man U a few years ago. Some of the money was used to build some hospitality facilities at the back of the Main Stand to help sustainability.
Thanks for posting that. Not an organisation I knew much about and great to see us being apart of, looking at league position alone also the senior member.
When you turn up to play the world champions with a goalkeeper whose goalkeeping attributes now stretch to being “a top bloke” let’s not pretend we are trying to win a trophy
Would we have lost that game with Kaminski in goal - 99.9% certain we would.
Is Kaminski the most irreplaceable player at the club (considering who is in the squad) with the possible exception of Barkley - yes.
I wouldn’t have been that optimistic about the rest of the season if Kaminski had ‘done a Steer’ in the cup game.
The risk/reward for playing him in that game wasn’t in any way on the side of ‘reward’. Of course the solution would be to have a better back up keeper!
I'd like us to come out and shout about it but it's really not that simple is it?
I'm surprised that there are people out there that simply can't wait to criticise at every opportunity and who try to make it into a big deal every time. When you set that against the incredible successes we have had and the way we have gone about it . . .
And no, that's not to say that everyone who complains about something is doing that but there are a few who clearly have an agenda.
I do get that and sometimes you need to pick your battles and how you fight your battles.
But in this situation we could really use our current, very visible standing in the football world to put a very strong message across about how a lot of the footballing community, a somewhat unheard majority, feels about where the game is heading.
Through lots of hard work we are now in a position that we can make a lot noise, perhaps this is the moment for us to do this on behalf of the majority of smaller teams that don't have that reach
Maybe some people understand a) constraints put upon them as members of the EPL b) that there's obviously a bigger picture that hasn't come out and c) that the club fight the corner for the broader game at every opportunity - and probably deserve some respect for that?
But of course, there are people who simply love to have a go at them at every opportunity: club shop, tickets, way crowd works under the stands, replica shirts, price of food, betting ban - you name it, for some people everything 2020 do is crap
Fortunately such people are in a small minority.
I don't imagine for a moment that GS and co like this move or having our game controlled by UEFA, FIFA and a few fat cat clubs owned by states, sheiks, American investment funds and crooks
And let's face it this club has had it's fair share of crooks in the past, not all of them obviously. And I will add that the 2020 Consortium are, by far, the best owners of our great club since I started going in 1964/65. Although I would add that at that time it was run by local businessmen, as many clubs were in those days
If you are correct and they don't like this move, how great would it be to be the first and probably only PL club to speak out against it. With not doing so, we look the same as all the other money driven self centred PL clubs.
My thoughts exactly, GS was correctly brave enough to come out and slate how the point reductions had been handled by the PL but not this? Unless of course we as a club, are for the scrapping of replays? as Joey says above it nots like we have treated the competition with much respect over recent years. who knows?
GS was correctly brave enough to come out and slate how the point reductions had been handled by the PL
And he got criticised for doing that. On here and elsewhere. Probably by the same people who are now moaning that he hasn't said anything about the Cup replay issue
"And he got criticised for doing that. On here and elsewhere. Probably by the same people who are now moaning that he hasn't said anything about the Cup replay issue"
I personally don't give a toss what the trolls on here or the world of social media say, and I suspect GS doesn't either.
GS rightly raised his objection to what was going on regards financial fair play. Is this the right strategy for all circumstances almost certainly not but there are moments when as a club we should stand up for what is right, regardless of what league we are in, pick our battles, this imo is one of those situations,
"Stay Humble, stay luton. None of that 'Billy big bollocks' shit" remember?
I'm not saying he, or you, give a shit either way. Wasn't my point at all
I'm just saying that a lot of the people moaning about him saying something on the points issue are likely the same people moaning that he has/the club have been silent on the replays issue
Just like they'd have been moaning if he'd stayed silent on the points issue and vocal on the replays issue
Do you really, honestly not understand why they can't? Seriously? No idea how organisations like the PL work, or comprehension of the constraints? Or how 2020 buck the trend every way they can against modern football?
Look at the hysteria surrounding Sweet's interview about points deductions - including, I'd bet my last penny, some of the people slating him for this.
Perhaps you're one of those 'I don't see why I can't sing what I want and fuck the consequences' types? Fortunately Sweet and co have more sense - perhaps because they have to suffer those consequences. And maybe ditto this situation.
Losing any bargaining power or say in what happens with the EPL, EFL, governance etc?
As it stands I understand (from the best sources) that GS argues the case lucidly for a fairer game within the committees etc of the PL and at least gives proper football a voice. But like every single business I've ever known or heard about, some of that has to be done in-house or you're silenced.
For clarity: I absolutely detest these changes and am convinced there's more to this than meets the eye
