More confident about surviving now than I was prior to today.

    Forest not winning was huge.

If Everton don’t win tomorrow, it’s well and truly game on.

One game per week until end of the season. No catch up games, no extra chances of injuries. Have a sneaky feeling we will see some of the big names back.

Think 1990. The hard stuff is done. We are good enough to get 9 points from last 5 games.

    Forza Luton! (apologies Nn5hat)

Seems you're trying to convince yourself. You don't convince me.

Reality of the situation is, given the table and our now poor goal difference, our survival chances I would say are around 25%.

1 point from safety with 5 games left? I'd have taken that back in August

Just a shame we've left 3 or 4 points out there over the last dozen games or so (even though we did win some lost points back late on against Palace and at home to B'mouth)

But it isn't one point though is it ? We all know Forest will get two points back which turns that one point into three and their superior goal difference then turns that three points into four.

That's the reality of the situation.

No, the reality of the situation is it's 1 point. The table I'm looking at says 1 point. That's the reality of the situation

You're making an assumption that they'll get points back. That's not reality... yet

Even if they get 2 back, I'd have taken being 3 points off safety with 5 games left back in August

Yes its an assumption but the fact is that there hasn't yet been an appeal that hasn't been successful to some degree and normally a 50% success rate is the result.

I know that and so do you so pull your head out of the sand before the tide rushes in.

The bookies agree with me and they are rarely wrong.

I hope I'm wrong but doubt I am.

But you said it's the reality. It isn't

                Oh do fuck off

I'm not saying we're staying up. I'm saying I would have taken 1 (or 3 points) off safety with 5 games to go if asked back in August. Is that so difficult to understand?

Understand you perfectly. So you think we will stay up when we are effectively four points from safety with five games left. Fine, we'll see who is right come the end of the season.

I hope you are. I'm convinced I am. I'll avoid the route you took however and refrain from replying to you with abusive language as, unlike you, I'm a gentleman who was brought up with higher standards than you were.

Well, you haven't understood me perfectly at all. Where did I say I think we'll stay up? I said, I'd have taken being 1 point from safety (or 3) with 5 games to go if offered it in August

I don't know why you are, plainly, struggling with this. Show me where I've said we will stay up

However, what I would say is I hope the players and the club have got more gumption than you and are not adopting your defeatist attitude

Perhaps you wouldn't have got abuse aimed at you if you weren't such a condescending, sanctimonious, patronising twat

Most bookies have us at between 4/7 and 1/2 to be relegated. Back in August, I think that most fans would have taken still being in with a chance (realistic and not just being within 15 points of fourth from bottom) of staying up with five games to go. With a few more players available, we would probably have made changes earlier and the effects of tiredness probably led to a couple of those goals. Fred would probably have been a sub if others had been available. He had a good game but probably played longer than he should and lack of match fitness had an impact on two of their goals which a fully fit player who normally plays right back might have avoided.

            Why was Mengi missing yesterday?

Don't know if that really is you but it has been widely reported that both Mengi and Burke were doubtful according to the pre-match press conference. He has been carrying a knock for swveral weeks so it could be a calculated decision that the risk of making it worse and losing him for other games where we have a more realistic chance was too great. I read that neither of them trained this week. I would guess that if we had been at home to Brentford yesterday he would probably have played.
