I don't normally have anything to do with gbnews

But I think there's something in this.

I've had arguments with people before suggesting that if people drive at say 60mph instead of 30mph then that would half the time on the road thus reducing congestion. And that's before we start about getting stuck behind faffers unable to overtake because they're going really slow when driving conditions should allow for faster speeds still safely.

It's not a great suggestion, so many people are simply incapable of safe driving at current speed limits.

Not to mention the fact that higher speed limits tend to make for more congestion / accidents on busy roads and actually increase average journey times.

And that's before we get over the fact that it increases cost and pollution.

I reckon that if you've got lots of divers going up and down the motorway at 100mph it will cause more congestion because of all the resultant accidents

You do realise that if you hit someone at 60mph you're twice as likely to kill them than if you hit them at 30mph ?

Ban lorries overtaking, have minimum speeds per lane (obv traffic conditions can stop this) and fine outside lane hoggers.

You don’t look very hard then. Most joggers drive particular German makes (BMW, Audi, Mercs) plus the usual Jaguar and Range Rover types. All think that they must stay in the outermost lane for as long as possible, until they’re 200 yards from the junction they want to come off at - then they just indicate (which gives them right of way, obviously) and move left, breaking hard if they have to.
                Tossers, the lot of them…
