Now I know it's the Daily Mail, but

That should guarantee that the top 6 or so will never change.

Every time a new rule is proposed it makes me dislike football more and more. It becomes ever more about money and not about the game.

Same, I drive past Ampthill Town everyday, I honestly think it's the only place I'll be going to watch football in a few years.

America and its tentacles eventually ruin everything, democracy, culture, diets, now sport.

It's inevitable that this kind of change will come in. Sky, the Premier League and the rest would prefer to occasionally see a club go bust so long as the spectacle continues and they can drum up rumours about Neymar to Newcastle on deadline day etc.

I don't think many people realise how close Chelsea came to disappearing in 2022. That was a near miss, the next one might not be.

          Sigh

More boom and bust then for the rest of football while the top 6 are protected even more as they'll never get relegated and can better afford this 'tax'

UEFA might have something to say, of course

Some in the Prem think Everton and Forest got harshly treated? I find that difficult to believe as the League's members would have voted for it

Maybe they should ask Wigan and Reading about harsh treatment

                And Luton

They just want a billionaires free-for-all to protect the so-clled quality of the 'product'*. It's pathetic really

*fucking hate the use of that word when talking about football

Just in time to ensure that Manchester City and Chelsea are given an even wetter punishment than Everton and Forest have already been given.

That is probably the main reason. Chelsea aren't even one of the classic big clubs of England. They just got lucky with a Russian oligarch and his filthy ill-gotten gains

At least the Italian FA have got bollocks and relegated Juventus for cheating as well as deducting them points on another occasion

Re: Now I know it's the Daily Mail, but

Yeah, could you imagine the FA here punishing one of the bigger clubs?

They've totally abdicated all responsibility for English football, all because they wanted to get one over the Football League in 1992.

As far as I know. The Fa now is the cup , grassroots and England. That’s it ?

The FA is the regulatory body for football in England, meaning any decisions taken regarding purely the football side of Premier League matches rests with the FA. For example, if a player during a Premier League match commits a disciplinary offence, sanction decisions rest with the FA.

If any new rules are developed by the world governing body (FIFA), such as the possible implementation of goal-line technology, this will be administered and developed by the FA for Premier League matches.

Although the FA does not run the day-to-day operations of the Premier League, it has veto power over the appointment of the league chairman and chief executive and over any changes to league rules.

Another way in which the two interact is when the FA requires players to represent the England national team for a competitive or friendly international; the Premier League does not schedule any fixtures on this day thus enabling the players to represent their country.

It is a continual balancing act between the FA and FAPL to ensure both sides are satisfied. This balancing act is achieved by having a FAPL presence on the board of the FA. This allows FAPL to have some sway with the FA when decisions of the FA affect the commercial interests of the FAPL. Furthermore, certain commercial decisions taken by the FAPL may need the agreement of the FA before they can go ahead.

I've been to Chelsea when there's been less than 10000 there. As a kid they were always a bit Spursy, would have a good cup run now and again and played good football , had a few flair players. But you'd fancy beating them at home on a wet Tuesday night.

Re: Now I know it's the Daily Mail, but

Sure when we played them once, probably early 90s, the crowd was 11k at the Bridge, 9k for the home game at Luton.

Re: Now I know it's the Daily Mail, but

                        Yeah.

To be fair clubs are able to grow and they've grown from those gates and those days. The thing is, what really enabled them to do that was the aforementioned filthy money. They'd still be yo-yoing between the top 2 divisions without that. On the verge of admin before Abrahmovic took over if stories I've heard are true

Brighton used to pull 5 or 6,000 and look at their gates now in their nice but soulless, silent stadium. So clubs can grow (and shrink) and I'm sure we will grow in Power Court too. It's just that I resent how Chelsea did it

There was and is always something about them that made them easy to dislike.

Back then it was mostly Ken Bates.

Thing was. They were just a bit non descript back then really. Always worse when some of these clubs start winning , Arsenal a bit the same for me. Whereas I sort of don’t mind Man City. Think their proper fans have put up with a lot before they got good and seem to have a decent knowledge of the history of their and others clubs.

Top 6 has barely changed for years apart from Leicester winning league and Chelsea becoming shit, anyway.

It's got to be voted for, however the top 6 or so will vote for it. And to be honest so will at least 8 or 9 who can see without the top 6 the tv money etc will stop rolling in
