    The Brazil offside

Posted by Midnight Son on 24/3/2024, 14:35:29

Having read the explanation several times I still don't understand the decision. How can there be the view that there was no interference with play? Maybe the refs on here can explain in words of one syllable....

The guy who scored wasn’t interfering with play when in an offside position when the other guy went through on goal.

I’m not sure how you can not be interfering with play when you’re one of two-on-one and then you score, but it makes sense to the application of the rule.

Goal. They tinker with the rules too much, but still a goal. I do wonder what would happen if a player decides to stand miles offside with no intention of getting the ball ina first phase. It must alter what the defenders do.

They showed it about 10 minutes later. Was onside. The second was clearly onside.

If you had the remotest notion of the laws of the game you would understand that at no time was either player offside.

Good goal and quite rightly allowed to stand. The first player was onside when the ball was played through to him and when it came back off Pickford to the young lad who scored he was behind the first player who had his shot saved, so clearly onside.

Have you seen the lines drawn, I haven't.

Northern Bloke! They were in offside positions! It's the interpretation of interfering with play that s being queried.

MS. Wrong on both counts. Learn the laws of the game.

First player quite clearly onside, second player also onside as he was behind the ball when first player shot for goal.

Law is crystal clear, player cannot be offside if he is behind the ball when it comes to him from a colleague or when it comes to him via deflection off an opponent (Pickford).

Pick which scenario you like, in either or both the scorer was onside.

I thought there would be a check on the original pass at the half way line, it's looks Vinicus or whatever his name is looks just onside, but would like to see clear lines to prove it.
                      The finish is definitely onside.

I've read Law 11 dozens of times and am still not clear Northerb Bloke. And I'd be very surprised if it was as clear as you say to most people. Including the players, commentators and pundits. I suspect most just give up .
