    Rob Edwards expierence

For a manager with only 2 full seasons experience, with a very inexperienced team, apart from Barclay Townsend and Nakamba I think he is doing well. At the moment all the back players are novice to the Premier and the manager have no one to organise or tell them what to do the only one that can with experience is out injured.
I was there last night and have been following home and away since the sixties and felt at the time we should have held out better, but now with time to reflect, would sitting back and defending with what we have worked? I personally think he was right to take a gamble by concentrating on what they are better at , attacking, thus defending from up front, with the hope the other side do not convert. The back make mistakes, because of inexpierence in not dealing with constant pressure.last night Bournemouth in the first half went down the left with no joy, then in the second half went down the right side and the Japanese lad found it difficult, but who did he have to change it?
This season has gone similar to 74/75 and 82/83, but I think Edwards is doing a better job.
In 74/75 we were robbed and went down after a fight, but Harry had a lot more tools in the box after Xmas, plus the league was at a lower standard, rubbish pitches to even it out and nearly all UK players making the teams more level....now some of the club sides are better than international teams.
In 82/83, when we survived, under a inexperienced David PleaT his only 4th full season as a manager, again the same applied as above, but with stronger experience like Brian Horton, raddy antic, Richard money, and Paul Elliot who guided the youngsters.
I know both times over 10 wins were achieved but over 46 games not 38
I am not giving up, I think Edwards is going to be a top manager, I am sure the older fans will remember 82/83 going to vicarage road at eater getting wolloped 5-2, being resigned to relgation then going 6 or 7 matches unbeaten, before losing our last match at home 5-1 to Everton, then Man utd away 3-0 I think to stay up with RADDY goal at Man City for 10 years of top level football
Keep the faith in Rob Edwards and give him space to keep learning to keep us up
    M

Agree with the sentiments but it was pretty clear that Bournemouth had changed tactics second half and after a few minutes were targeting the left ( even before they scored) .
Whilst I think Pelly had a really poor game it seemed pretty clear that we needed to change formation slightly and protect Hashioka ..he did that at 3-3.
Young manager learning his trade so he will make mistakes …such a shame after such a great first half.
Barkley looked very pissed off at the end …he got another bang in the face…imo if he gets injured we have very little chance of staying up.

        Excellent post.

I am too young for 74-75, do remember 82-83 but not that level of detail.

It's not over until it's mathematically impossible. We have several winnable home games left.

Great post - our time in top flight has never been easy.

Right now our midfield is getting overrun each match - we should have been 3 down at Palace and Sheff Utd ran the midfield at ours. There has to be a focus on changing it around in these situations. Unless Pelly is injured, it might have helped bring him on at half time last night and going with just two up top? I know the injuries are worst than we've ever known but not trying other formations as we are tired and getting battered makes no sense?

Bournemouth are a good attacking side, especially at home. Very quick and powerful.

If we can play like we did in first half v Forest, we won't be chucking away a 2 oe 3 goal lead to them at home.

Trouble is Forest won’t let us play like we did first half, ie. counter attack. They’re a poorer side than Bournemouth but still have good players up front

Bournemouth were pretty food in the 1st half also, they had a few really good chances I was texting my mates at half time and said exactly that. Good side and we were naive.

This clubs given me some lows and last night was one but also some massive highs...enjoying most of it.
