    Hashioka, Giles, and Edwards

    Posted by lutonfan66 on 14/3/2024, 10:05:16

Last night was a tough one, and I can’t help think that, baring Adebayo, Lakonga, and Osho all making recoveries, we are now effectively down.

We’ve done so well this season. Scoring 3 goals in itself is fantastic. But to lose 4-3 after being 4 up is poor.

Although there was no way Edwards could foresee how bad our injury situation would be, I am now wondering if we signed the right player in January. For Hashioka to need time to settle and then be thrown into playing CB isn’t going to have done him any good. He looked absolutely crushed when he came off last night.

I also think getting rid of Giles was a mistake. I get there might be more to that, but at the end of the day, we could’ve had him on the bench last night instead of one of 3 youth players and a second keeper. Doughty looks exhausted.

Just my thoughts. I don’t want to seem too negative, and think we’ve done so well this season, but do wonder if we’re throwing away a great opportunity to stay up…

If we'd conceded 4 after being 4-0 up we'd have drawn.

Agree re. Hashioka looking crushed and was annoyed nobody put their arm round him when he came off. It's not his fault he was forced to play out of position and feel our positioning in general left him far too exposed with a lack of support repeatedly. I still expect him to to very well.

Also agree re. Doughty. Since Sheff Utd when he looked pee'd off I don't think he has been his full self. He still has pivotal moments in our favour eh his cross for our first goal yesterday but he's also making a lot of unforced errors which is uncharacteristic based on his form up until Sheff Utd. I think he should have been subbed off in 2nd half the last few games.

Overall we need to start defending better as a whole team and not let defenders take the full responsibility, often in one on ones which is too high stakes as has repeatedly been demonstrated.

After Saturday Hashioka was a legend in the making.

Hardly anyone wanted Giles to stick around.

            Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Not sure how many more centre halfs we could have had in the squad so really don't agree with all this, we should have got more cover in Jan. There wouldn't have been room for any other positions.

Is he a decent manager? Apart from Forest Green what has he done? Don’t even bother saying leading us to the Premier as he has said himself in numerous interviews he hadn’t really had to do nothing as it was all in place when he arrived.

We wouldn't have got promoted had Mr.Ego stayed in charge.

You know that do you?? Robs tactics have let us down so much this season which is a shame as the players are actually capable of staying but the manager is holding them back.

No, you're right, and the experts saying it'll be little short of miraculous if he kept this group of players in the PL are quite clearly wrong.
