Many Happy Returns of The Day Ricky.
A few pretenders have tried, but there will never be a better man to have played in Luton’s midfield.
    Thank you for the memories

When I saw that title I immediately thought the thread was about Dr Charles Hill, MP for Luton from 1950 - 1963 and later Lord Hill of Luton, who is clearly older than 65. In fact he's older than me and probably crumps as well. He also died in 1989.

But happy birthday to Ricky Hill, probably the greatest player ever to wear the Luton shirt.

In the mid 60's to mid 70's I sat next to him in the main stand and I didn't who he was until my dad told me after he came along on my mate's spare ticket. He was always a pleasant chap to me

A couple from the 1950's would challenge that assumption although RH was a joy to watch.

                  My thought process precisely squire!

Lord Hill for some reason became quite pally with my father through work, was very nice to him and I think came to our house. Seemed like a very decent chap from memory of conversations with dad. He sent a card when dad passed away, a long, long time ago.

Agree wholheartedly with your last sentence, well, within our time as fans anyhow

Lord Hill was guest speaker at Denbigh Rds Speech Day on the 13th of July 1962 at SKFs canteen in Leagrave Rd, the day he was sacked from Mcmillans Tory Cabinet, known as "Night of the Long Knives". That evening he presented me with the school History Prize, Peter Mays book of cricket. Still haven't read it.
