When (if) we stay up this season . . .

Posted by HuN on 5/3/2024, 12:39:25

. . do you think 2020 will start to get spivs/shysters, money men, investors and speculators all offering to take the club off their hands?

I'd like to think any offers would be politely refused, but how much 'cash' could be thrown onto the table for a PL team with a new ground on the way?

I wouldn't want solves etc may stay(hopefully, really hopefully) up but relegation will I should imagine haunt us and looking at Southampton who report losses if 100 million Last year(according to Sky) 30 mill parachute payment to come? Let's please keep 2020

A potential buyer might speculate about the value of the club increasing it we do stay up, but surely a bid would need to be made well before the relegation outcome is known.

We would still be favourites for relegation.

Most money men would prob wait for the new ground and a 3rd year in the Prem.

Yes that's a fair comment, speculators playing the waiting game and watching how we fare.
We could yoyo for a few seasons too, which could make us worth a 'punt'. I think we're also virtually debt free aren't we?

Down in the lower leagues we were safe, now we're swimming in shark infested waters, and sharks tend to scent blood (profit) from afar but know sod all about football and care even less about fans.

All the more reason to make sure the club keeps it promises and protects the assets (particularly the new stadium) from any new unscrupulous owners. On this point I have not seen an update from the club for a very long time
