The run-in and getting 16 points

Posted by Highland Hatter on 4/3/2024, 12:04:24

So here goes, we'll win at home 5 games vs:

Everton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham and Forest.

    Draw away to Palace.

    Lose every other game.

16 points and we stay up on 36 points, without the need for points deductions.

In reality it's 6 cup finals.

I think we might need a couple more than that without any further points deductions, but I think 34 could be enough with likely deductions.

Unless the injuries clear up and Edwards gets his head out of his arse we won't get another point this season.

I think we’ll pissed off enough after the Villa result to go out and beat Palace.

          I’m gonna say 2-1 Luton

How many games have we won at home so far this season ? Yet you expect us to win five of those we have left ! Optimism at its finest.

Whilst we might have lost at home to the 2 teams we came up with our home wins have come against teams in mid-table positions or at least teams not below us nor in top 6. Whilst I can't remember all our run-in fixtures, the 5 mentioned above are all winable and come in the category of above us in the table but not in the top 6. They should be our targets for points. Therefore suggesting how many we've won prior to now means bugger all.

Burnley and Sheff. Utd. at KR were winnable but we achieved one point out of six from those two, so quite why you think we will improve on that from now on against much better sides than those two is, as I said, optimism at its finest.

So how do you think we managed to beat Newcastle, BHA and Palace at home - after losing to Burnley?

Not just optimism but your logic doesn't tally. And we didn't get any points from Burnley or Sheff utd at home which proves you're talking out your arse.

My logic suggests we underestimated/took our foot off the gas against the lower placed opposition and we aren't good enough to beat the best teams but mid ranged teams at home are where our home points have come from and where most sane people (clearly not you) think they will too.

Typical clueless armchair critic opinion. We have much more winnable games ahead of us,just need to avoid anomalies like the Sheffield United performance. If you actually went to matches you might understand what the team are all about

                        It's a fair point though

3 wins at home all season in 14 games.

It will be a hell of a turnaround to win all 5 of the remaining home fixtures.

Maybe, but I'd far rather go in with the attitude of what we might do rather than worry about what we haven't done.

"Actually" is certainly correct that those attending are far more hopeful.

So tell me oh wise one, what is the team all about ?

Those anomalies you refer to are likely to result in relegation and that's assuming there are no more anomalies at KR in the remaining games we have.

God knows how we got out of The Conference, League Two, League One and The Championship with that attitude. Get behind the team as 95% of us do and we'll give it a go as we always have done. Starting with Palace away. Cheer the f**k up.

A fighting, never-say-die spirit - something you seem to know nothing about - and consistent improvement. Can see it week on week, particularly recently. The key factor, though, is the teams we yet have to play.

Ten seasons where 34 - 36 points avoided relegation

As mentioned, we need 36, but 34 points is the lowest total secured to have avoided relegation:
