    The minutes silence/applause yesterday

    Shambles

Pretty sure the announcer said a minutes applause but then we did a silence that was spoiled by people shouting 'shut up' at people who were coming in and clearly unaware what was happening.

I sit right underneath a speaker so heard the instructions clearly. The announcer explained a minute's applause on the referee's whistle. He probably should have waited until the players lined up round the centre circle as then people would have realised something was about to happen and shut up to listen. Then when the players were in position the referee was over by the dugouts and by the time he got back to the centre circle no-one was sure whether they were supposed to be quiet or applauding. Then people started calling out and the ref blew his whistle and everyone decided that must be the end. Bit of a mess all round to be honest.

It was obvious from watching what was going on but the PA in the Oak Road is, to say the least, hit and miss. I only knew what it was about because I'd read it on twitter.

It fell apart at the end when someone in the away end shouted "Fuck respect . . . " not sure what came after that but that was what caused the real breakdown at the end.

Sounded to me like he said 'fucking respect...' as in fucking respect the silence but I am a fair distance from it

The problem was that the tannoy was so poor that you couldn't hear what the announcer said about the arrangements. Most, like me, would have known that it was for Chris Nicholl, but a lot of people wouldn't have known.

Amazing isn't it? They can bang shit music out pre game so loud it ruins any chance of getting an atmosphere going to support the lads, yet a simple message can't be relayed to supporters through the same system!!
We may have finally found a part of the club that is as tinpot as the club shop.

The BBC website said that it was for former Villa player Chris Nicholl - no mention of him playing for us.

Think the give away was everyone in the centre circle not uttering a word, bit like Southend a few years back

Can barely hear a word out of speakers in the Kenilworth Rd end last few matches, must have a loose wire!
