A very frustrating game that sums up our season.

First half we were abject and lucky to go in only two down. Miles off the pace. I said before the game that Clark and Barkley as a midfield two doesn't give enough cover and we were overrun constantly in the middle.

Hodgson esq to play Bell and ultimately just a waste of a sub as he managed 3 mins. Should never have started.

Switching off costs us in almost every game and we did again for their second. Just need that extra alertness.

Second half much better, credit to certain areas who raised the atmosphere a bit and we got ourselves back into it. Constant spell of pressure and we get two goals.

I thought having Ogbene and Kabore on the same side created space as the defenders couldn't double up on either of them.

Although Kabore should've tracked his man that cross should never have come in. Too much time and space for Diaby to pick it out. Tired defending.

We've lost too many points now from positions we've worked hard to get ourselves into. Today, Liverpool, Arsenalz Newcastle, the lost goes on.

We've gone from too passive to ultra aggressive. The last 5 games we've scored 7 and let in 18. Yes we've played Liverpool villa and city and we've had defensive injuries but we have to find a way of tightening up. Cant concede 3 goals a game and expect to get anywhere at any level.

On the plus side I don't think Hashi lost a challenge, so far he looks a very good signing.

Doughty is not a CB and should never feature there again.

    Night all.

This is it though. Villa bring on 100 odd million off the bench and we looked out on our feet. But our options off the bench are Pelly (love him forever, but not sure he’s a game changer at this level) and a collection of championship players. And no, I don’t think having signed another player (unless they markedly improved our squad, which in January at this level is a very hard thing to find) during the window would’ve made a difference really either.

Fact is we’re punching above our weight massively and have yet again taken a top 4 side to the final minutes. I was devastated. But we’re doing our best. And let’s not forget Edwards is still a young coach who is learning. He’s going to get things wrong.

totally agree. that said it's just basic defending , you'd get punished the same in the championship and by the better league one teams. Switching off at the back post and letting a midget beat you in the air.

          I agree.

As has been said before, we have a handful of Prem quality players and after that there's a massive drop off.

What we're missing imo is an experienced defender who can organise the back line. Perhaps it would've been Lockyer. Bell is experienced but he's had 2 seasons as a centre back. Perhaps it would've been Andersen but again at this level he's unproven.

Ultimately doing our best and taking sides to the last minute isn't getting points, only plaudits. I'd rather have a go than not and if we go down then we can say we've given it a go but it is frustrating in the moment when it happens

That sums up my thoughts too ...And in response to original post, I'm sure that Doughty would be first to admit that he's not a CB!

Also we keep increasing the capacity but can the ground actually handle more people?

Carnage pre game underneath the main stand, and at half time. Very difficult to walk through and if you've got kids it's flat out dangerous.

It's quicker and easier for me now to walk round the ground and go in the bridge entrance and then walk back through the ground to my seat than queue up at the Kenilworth road end. Especially if I'm bringing the boy.

The main stand hasn't changed all season or any of the seasons prior to this. The increase has been the oak road end (there is a handful of supporters that access the bobbers via the Kenilworth stand)

The reason for the extra traffic under the stands prior to the game was that there were several games relevant to our position being played out on the tvs

No, but it is consistently more full. Last season there were often spare seats in my block, especially for non 3pm Saturday games. Every game now is rammed. So we're selling more tickets, we've halved the available space under the main stand and it's now not worth the bother unless you leave on 38 mins.

Also I said it after the Newcastle game but they need a concession entrance at the Kenilworth road end. Queuing in that mob before the game with a child is just dangerous. I had to carry my boy. I don't know if it's the stewards searching people now or what but it's absolutely rammed.

The other thing pissing me off is stewards wanting to check my ticket every time I try and get to my seat. It's pointless because any entrance to the enclosure leads to my seat if I walk along the back

Spot on. How crowded it is under the main stand was flagged up on here several times a few games into the season. Of course, the usual suspects shot it down. It is dangerous at times. An accident waiting to happen.

Don’t recall anyone shouting that point down at all.
I’ve said the same thing a couple of times and everyone is in agreement.
