    Leeds

My youngest son is a leeds fan, i went with him to stamford bridge last night, stood in the leeds end, thought our fans were passionate but this lot take it too another level, no one sitting apart from me about every 20 minutes to rest my knees, and when they scored having loads of random yorkshiremen jumping on you , never stopped singing , mostly young lads, funny thing a chelsea fan was waving a tenner at leeds fans, he got thrown out for a bit of banter, modern football eh

I am currently trying to reach Leeds for work but missed a connection. Cup games away from home used to bring out some older heads which was always fun. I can remember a league cup tie like that one evening at the allotments like that 😀

If your son supports Leeds instead of Luton, you've failed as a parent.

I'm struggling with a similar dilemma for my kids. They are still young, but both showing an interest in football at the moment. But there's no way I could afford to regularly take them both to Luton matches, with the cost of 3 tickets and travelling half the country every time. So do I raise them as Luton fans anyway, with the likely result that they will mainly be armchair fans? Or do I encourage them to support a local team like Preston, so I can actually take them to a few games? Not expecting any serious replies, but it's not always as easy as "they must support Luton".

You're not that much further away from Luton from me. I go with both my lads but understand not everyone can do that.
If i wasn't able to take them regularly I'd have still made sure they're Luton.
If you want to show you're kids football is not a TV show, take them to a local non league club. Where your money would be gratefully received with the bonus of being able to have a pint whilst watching the game.

Yeah, I'm restricted by finances as well as distance (I work for a charity, and not many people do that for the money!). My plan at the moment is to take them to watch Garstang play non-league initially so I agree with your suggestion there, and if they are happy with that then great. But if they want to support a league team (if all of their friends are, for example) then that will be harder.

As you know, your kids are more important than anything else.

                  Therein lies the answer.

                      Always, always noisy and passionate.

I've loved every visit to Leeds, even though occasionally a bit hairy - as GB/Peter Pan will vouch for in 1978. That was a mad night, even for a hippy type like me...

...and the subsequent 'ambush' by them a month later on a snowy night at York: the Real Dave S knows all about that one!

I have had a similar problem living in West Yorkshire, as there the local club, slowly but surely they have all converted.

It really doesn't matter. All youngsters need to grow in their own way, rather than live their lives for us older folks.
My guess is, they will become local fans, with a soft spot for their dad's team.
