    Extra time last night

Posted by KS on 28/2/2024, 11:45:56

Not that anyone was bothered but there wasn't a single minute added on.

When did that last happen ? And how did the officials decide to just call it a day despite there being four goals and assorted subs to allow for ?

Our small group in KUC discussed this.I wondered whether the 4th official would hold his board up showing a big fat zero. The hope from my neighbour was that he would hold it up showing -1.

I presume to help City for their upcoming derby?

I think we all were relieved with the 1 second of injury time. But it's not really the point, it's not within Taylor's gift to make the rules up, although he did a lot that last night.

The last thing I wanted last night was 10mins added on.
To be honest If had called time at 4-2, I would have taken it

I'm certainly not unhappy at being denied an extra 6, 7 ,10 minutes of "entertainment". But it's not common practice to call a halt dead on 90 when the result is clearly not in doubt.

Equally there were 3 added minutes at the end of the first half. City were awarded a free kick in our half about thirty seconds from the end and time had elapsed when the kick was taken. Yet play was allowed to continue well beyond until it was clear that any goal threat was over.

              It's just so random

That was the one decision Taylor got right.

From memory, it was bizarre when the flag went up for offside against Johnson and Taylor played on, City controlled it, cleared it up top, controlled, laid off, controlled, then we intercepted and Taylor blew up for offside.

A challenge second half wasn't given to us but the same thing was given to them a minute later - I forget the players. Soft fouls galore.

Morris and Haaland being held/holding the defenders.

Exactly the same thing both times but Haaland was given a free kick and Morris wasn't

One of the ones on Morris was ridiculous, defender wrapped both arms round him and literally threw him to the ground . . . nothing given.

that was very strange, not enough consistency in the way games are reffed and made worse by the fact that added time isnt a hard thing to ref but got fukced up last nt, totally lackadaisical rubbish officiating

Yes we might have done, on the other hand we may have conceded a 7th goal, having said that no further goals may have been scored.

I've looked at it from all the potential different outcomes.
