pack the midfield and let them have 85% possession and still get beaten by 3\4

Yep,sure playing a high line against the euro champions has done wonders for Menghis confidence

Yes, anything but playing to De Bruyne/Haaland/City's strengths. Still shaking my head at the man to man which RE said won't change.

Agreed - at the end of the day we are not going to win the FA cup and while a cliche for us right now it is a distraction. We have 4 or 5 key players missing - Ade/Brown/Marv/Lockyear/Lokonga - RE is not a miracle worker. Man C in that form beat every team in the Europe.

Of course other teams don't have to contend with injured players.

I think there is a big big difference between us and them in every respect...squad cost, depth of squad...2m worth of players on our bench last night, 265m worth of players on their bench...even if clubs like Man City pick up a few injuries they simply replace them with another from their squad, another player who would probably be worth more than most of our entire team...this is the real difference...its all to do with money...

Exactly but more.... they have a large sqaud of under 21s outside their official 25 who are also arguably worth more than our squad - so they have a far bigger pool to pick from - a la Liverpool!

We should have just played our injured players and world class squad members who never get a run out or exist.

When Fluminense lost 4-0 to them in December they folded the club the following week due to the embarrassment.

But we didn't embarrass ourselves last night. We played well but we're beaten by a vastly superior team.

The main difference between last night and the league game were KDB and Haarland who were both absent in November. Our away game their is the only fixture I'm really worried about goal difference wise.

We stayed in defensive shape more in the December game, didn't press nearly as much

We had Lockyer (less athletic) and Nakamba as a DM shield; but the main difference was no Haaland. Alvarez doesn’t have the pace in behind or the strength, so we were quite effective in our press that day.

Last nights tactics and of late, have been beyond reckless.
