Forest - more severe deduction than Everton?

Posted by Earls on 26/2/2024, 14:11:49

Everyone seems to be assuming Forest will get six points off, same as Everton. Is that based on like for like, reliable sauces?
I ask, as Forest’s cheating seems worse than Everton’s. Everton were funding a new ground; Forest were just going on a clearly mad and unsustainable spending spree on the pitch. Surely that’s worse?

I don't think Forest will get a points deduction

It'll be six points. Their arses are then covered. Hey ho.

Everton's losses weren't due to funding the new ground. They can deduct those costs, however they were still overspending on the day to day running of the club.

Maybe Forest's overspend is worse - it certainly looks like they chose to do it as their best chance of staying up. But I expect the most important factor will be how much above the limit they are. As far as I know that's not been made public. If it's only a relatively small amount they will probably get a smaller penalty.

Would’ve been really useful to have set guidelines for penalties brought in when the PSRs were introduced. But that would make far too much sense.
