Everton points deduction for breach of Premier League profitability & sustainability rules reduced from 10 points to 6 after independent panel appeal hearing into original punishment. 2nd charge appeal hearing still to come.

According to The Athletic on Twitter.

PL have re-assessed how many points they think we can get by the end of the season, fairly obvious.

Ain’t there factors at play regarding one of the teams relegated last season too?

Objectively 6 points feels a fairer punishment, not knowing all the ins and outs.

The banter option for the PL will be to deduct the other four for the second breach

There was talk it would be reduced to 6 points and then looking at another 6 points for the 2nd charge. So they on what 21 get 4 back puts them on 25 take 6 off them again leaves them on 19 points 1 behind us if everything was done now. So really we shouldn't be relying on points deductions.

Not a big deduction really. They are still shit however

So, I suspect their second charge will result in a smaller penalty so they might end up on 10 points overall?

Forest probably looking at 6 points?

Don’t see why they wouldn’t get another 6 for next charge as well? Have they lost less money this time? Does that matter?

                  Hopefully.

All academic if we don't start picking up some points again....!

                    Indeed.

We need to focus on controlling the controlllerables and not relying on theoretical points reductions

couldn't agree more - the Everton position is false - they are a lower mid table team - we need to focus on trying to catch other "bottom end" teams such as Forest/Brentford/Palace (I also think Bournemouth are not all they are made out to be)

I suppose that it depends on the size of the second breach and the factors that lead to it happening.

Normally I'd say that a second offence should mean a larger penalty based on like for like but if this for multiple sets of three years then it would seem a little harsh for them to get hit for the two in the same season.

Some points deduction that is. What a joke

The Premier League are the ones to blame. They distorted the table with that 10 point penalty.

If only 2/9 charges were upheld by the appeal then I think you have to point towards the Premier League's failings in how they came to the charge the club.

Likely that Everton and Forest get further deductions that could help us out but only opens the door for more appeals and more uncertainty about our own position.

7/9 were upheld, only 2 overturned

So they should have only got 2 points back then, surely

It's all finger-in-the-air stuff from the Prem. Farcical

I think it was that 2 of the 9 grounds for appeal that Everton lodged were upheld by the commission.
