    Opening of KR 1905

Posted by RADSB on 23/2/2024, 8:24:05

Following on from the post further down, I identified all the important people involved in the 1905 opening of the Ivy Road Enclosure, now Kenilworth Road. The brewer, J.W. Green, a LTFC fan and director, opened the ground and kicked off the game v Plymouth.

Looks like the ground hasn’t changed much and still non league support levels.

How much of a dickhead to you have to be to think this “non league” thing is any sort of insult when you’re using it about a club that’s above your third rate franchise

Thanks. It took two days to research the people I didn't know. I knew the Sargeant straight away as I found his ID record card 9 years earlier when volunteering at Wardown Museum. I wasn't sure how I would use it at the time.

I wouldn't even know where to start with something like that.

Was it just a case of knowing you would have to slog through old photos etc to try to match the faces?
