    Tactics

    In Rob we trust .....

But do you think that we have gone a bit gun ho, I criticised us after the Villa game for not showing any ambition but now wonder if we are perhaps being over ambitious going to top of the league and going man for man marking... have we got to pick our battles a bit smarter

I think any team except perhaps Man City or Real Madrid would've lost after Liverpool's second half performance.

That said, we did play into their hands by faffing about with it in our half. They were winning it back every time in dangerous positions. We could've perhaps cleared it long occasionally...yes they would've won it back but in their half instead of ours

Agreed. It also would have given our lads a little breather and given them chance to re group/get back in position. It was like the Alamo for 45 minutes solid.
We'd have still got battered mind!

Our goal kicks were terrifying, every time their press and turn over work put us into trouble, can't we go back to proper goal kicks into the opposition's half.

I would say away at big 6 we are not getting anything so may as well treat it as unique learning experience and test players one to one. If we pack defence we will lose anyway.. Brentford away was to me the worst example of that

No. After the first few games most accepted we were going down but we needed to go down having a go.
          We're now doing that.
          Can't fault them.

Itís not the gung ho ness Iíd criticise. Sometimes when we are under the sort of pressure we were at the start of the second half the ball just needs to be booted up front just to give the lads a few seconds to reset, or up the wings to turn them a bit. The other thing we donít do, which others have done to us, is to have a player go down (preferably the keeper) so the physio can come on and the players can re group.

No I think in this league we have to get in the the other teams face. We have to make full use of our attacking players like Ogbene, Adebayo and Barkley. Better to go gung ho than overly cautious.

Yep, thought that for a few weeks now. We press high now and often leave one on one at the back.
We didn't do that pre Barkley.

No. We didnít lose because we went man-for-man. We lost because we couldnít deal with their counter-press.

                          Score,then park the bus.
                          Probably not made any difference.
Play more open, attacking football against top sides. Makes you learn and improve. Gives you a better chance of winning against lower teams.

Need to learn not to fanny around outside own area and give the ball away.

Need to play better or have better tactics against the lesser teams. Could be tricky with key players out
