Once a thread moves into illegality the Admin of the site is the one who cops the whack and the site could be shut down.
That may seem unfair, but extreme views and ideas have made it an inevitability
Our fault, we've got to live with it.

When they descend into open racism, abuse and people calling each other nonces, yes they get deleted. For obvious reasons

Unfortunately the likes of Ron/Mike under his many names and 'Ha' ruin many threads for ordinary posters so the whole thread goes.

Sadly, that's the way it is thanks to a few people. No agenda, so posts like yours and RPL are way off the mark.

Being scared to admit the truth is exactly why we are in the mess we are & cancelling free speech doesn’t eradicate it. You expect this in Russia but not on here.

Maybe if when people exercised free speech they put a little bit more thought into it rather than just spouting out a quick sentence about not wanting immigrants or similar then less would be deleted because it might generate some reasonable discussion.

As it is it's usually the normal trolls posting the same old soundbites so it gets deleted.

So let us generate discussion an a chap granted asylum..due to ihs conversion in this country to Christianity ..Notice he did not convert in home country..also remember he is a convicted sex offender...do we as a nation want this individual?

Answer generated by asking AI the question, "Is religion taken into account when granting assylum to the UK?
                  Reply:
Religion can be a factor considered during the asylum process in the UK if the applicant can demonstrate that they are at risk of persecution or serious harm due to their religion in their home country. However, asylum decisions are based on a range of factors, including the individual's specific circumstances and the legal framework governing asylum claims. So, while religion can be a relevant consideration, it is not the sole determinant in granting asylum.

I don't think anyone is granted political asylum because they convert to christianity. It may be taken into account I suppose but that wouldn't be why he was granted asylum, surely?

They claim to be gay or Christian and then they claim they will not be safe if they are returned. It is actually that simple to fiddle the system.

They don't normally talk about individual cases but this must be an exception as we need to know why he was refused asylum twice, committed the offence then granted asylum. Totally baffling.

No. If you have a conviction for a sexual offence that should have an impact on whether you are granted asylum. I doubt anyone disagrees with that point.

That's an appallingly low bar for asylum to be granted on and very worrying as to who else is being granted it.

It hasn't always had the current levels of vitriol and nastiness, there used to be some humour - and it wasn't dominated by certain subjects which have nothing to do with the club.

I think that's along the lines of what I was trying to say in my original reply. But it's often just the same about LTFC-related subjects.

People get nasty about just about everything, and no sorry there has always been some pretty vitriolic stuff. Were you here during the Brexit referendum for example?

But yes, these days there are some genuinely sad cases that seem to be working hard to ruin it and we won't attract many new posters with this board format because so many people like the more advanced social media interfaces. I don't particularly but things have moved on.

People tend to forget that with free speech comes responsibility. Responsibility to wider society for the implications of what they say and stir up. This is especially true for people who demand to share their opinions but have done zero research on the subject and only considered one side of an often multi-faceted and complex issue.
