It just indicates that VAR did it's job correctly. People are relatively evenly divided on whether it's a foul or not, which supports that the referee didn't make a clear and obvious error when he decided it wasn't.

36/64 is quite a margin although I think that 64% are wrong.

It's not as wide though as you would expect for an obvious error. Assuming the people that voted are reasonably knowledgeable of the game and the rules (a terrible assumption I know) as a referee would/should be then just over 1 in 3 refs would have given it. Hardly a major controversy.

Burnley fans complaining on their forum that they were denied by var are incorrect. The officials were clearly going to give it. So had var not existed, it would have still have been a goal

It’s only controversial because normally the goalkeeper gets away with it and no other PL game was on.
Ref & Lino see a goal, var see no obvious error, goal stands.
It will all blow over when man u, liverpool, citeh etc kick off & a throw in goes the wrong way.

Absolutely correct, fans have been conditioned to expect any touch on a keeper is a foul. Eli was stronger, used his body to prevent a less stronger keeper get to the cross. Strong reffing and VaR for a change.

...'A player may shield the ball by taking a position between an opponent and the ball if the ball is within playing distance and the opponent is not held off with the arms or body. If the ball is within playing distance, the player may be fairly charged by an opponent'
We think it's great defending (and it is) if a defender shields a ball out of play cleverly - there's little distinction between that and Ade placing himself in Trafford's way to the ball. Not one of these over-hyped pundits even discuss this.
Tight call but certainly not a 'disgrace' either way the ref might have called it.
