Sky news have just stated the goal was awarded

Posted by deeuu on 13/1/2024, 9:10:16

After a lengthy VAR delay, as I recall it was over very quickly.

Granted it was a muted celebration.

My initial thought was free kick, but from another angle, it does look like on that occasion Trafford was late to the ball and threw his arms in the air, following the contact.

At the end of the day some results go for you and some against.

Decent angle there. Eli is battling with the defender and its a continuation of that movement that leads him into the keepers path

When you watch that it's actually embarrassing that they are even claiming it.

It's like our goalkeeper fell over so it must be a foul.

I think that angle backs up what I was saying last night.

Adebayo knows what he's doing there. Wether Trafford is going to get there or not is another issue (I think he does).

I'd be unhappy if it was the other way round. I also think if that was Man City instead of Burnley it's ruled out

The goal was given by the referee. VAR confirmed there was no clear and obvious error, so no foul. So they are incorrect to state VAR gave the goal

Both Eli and Trafford fighting for the same ground. You see defenders blocking space off all the time.

If you go back to the beginning of the match when Burnley kicked off by passing it back to Trafford. Eli was deliberately blocked from closing him down three times in the space of a few seconds.

            contd

You could argue that our keeper was blocked from saving their goal by the player on the line…if he wasn’t there he would have saved it.
Trafford knew he had misjudged the flight and wasn’t getting there and tried to use Ade for a foul.
Don’t agree we were lucky as dominated large amounts of the game.
