            My favourite story about Bob Hawkes was when they were going to an away game by horse drawn bus. Bob and his another player walked on when the bus stopped to water the horses - planning to jump back on when the bus caught them up.

            However, Bob and his mate took a different turning and the bus went the other way. The team, with only 9 men were 2 0 down at ht when Bob and the other player finally arrived having walked the rest of the way. They fought back to draw 2 2 in the second half.
