All this talk of Atmosphere yesterday - Power Court

Posted by Non-League Yaya Toure on 8/1/2024, 11:49:09

When/if we move to Power Court would it be a worth considering to transfer existing season ticket holders over to that same area as they already sit in to try to retain our existing atmosphere?

So for our first season in the new stadium temporarily name all the stands as they are now? Sure there will be more rows and stands but they can be for general sale, then after the first season we get first dibs the following season if we choose to relocate our seat?

There is an inherent contradiction between those advocates of power court and the same people who don't like day trippers (so called),. In reality there are probably 6 - 8k hard core supporters of the club so to fill 23k seats we will need another 10 - 12k "day trippers" - no different from most other PL clubs outside the top few which is why PL atmospheres are so poor in grounds like Brighton/Brentford/Chelsea - most are day trippers or glory hunters. The inevitable reality is that Luton will remain about half way up the league of 92 clubs and having a new stadium is not going to herald some golden era - we will continue to have ups and downs so to expect a sudden surge of hard core committed supporters is just not sensible.

Why wouldn’t the new stadium ‘herald a golden era’?’ That’s precisely the whole point and why it’s so vital to establishing ourselves as a prem/ upper championship club!!

Build it and they will come. I am sure of that. Provided there is a decent team to support that is. Just one problem, will the frigging thing ever get built. Existing planning permission runs out in September I believe. If that is true then they had better get started before then.

Making it 23k has pushed things back….

Personally think that the original 18k was more than enough.

If the change to 23k is really the only reason for the new delay then really wonder whether it’s worth it.

At the moment that is I think it would be close to full at 23,000.

We're in the Golden Era now mate

A new ground will likely give us an average attendance that will allow us to consistently compete in the Championship, with the odd season in the Premier League and League 1
