    Yesterdays attendance 10,739

    Posted by Forever_Hatter on 8/1/2024, 8:49:08

Prior to the game mentioned it was sell out - Bolton had all the Oak (so filling the normally wasted segregation block)

But still the attendance was only 10,739?

Baffles me that we’ve had higher in the Prem with the 1 block in Oak being empty.

What am I missing? As surely if Bolton were allocated less than say Arsenal - why on earth did Bolton get all the Oak?

For an alleged sell out there were plenty of empty seats in F block.

For every match there are two attendances recorded internally.

One is "seats sold" which includes season ticket holders who haven't turned up, staff who are assigned a seat but don't use it because they're working elsewhere in the stadium, complimentary tickets assigned to schools which weren't all claimed etc.

The other is "people in the ground" which is how many have actually gone through the turnstiles.

For league matches the Club generally reports the former, because it sounds better.

For FA Cup matches attendance revenue is split 50-50 with the away team and so it's in your interest not to count tickets you haven't actually sold.

Ahh didn’t notice that as was in different seat and from my angle looked to be full.
          Cheers

Also, clubs are allowed to give up to 15% of capacity to away fans rather than the 10% they are obliged to give for the Premier League.

I'm not sure that Bolton actually sold out, although it unallocated seating, so ( maybe) not the full 1700 odd ?

It looked as though there was a part of the block (4 or 5 seats wide) nearest the Main Stand that was being used as segregation.

They sold out in about 1 minute, loads of theirs didn't have tickets.

The game was officially sold out in General Admin areas. We have to give 15 % to the Away Club. Bolton were given 1617 seats. The capacity for this game with the make up of the ground was just over 10,800. The only unsold seats were in Commercial and Hospitality areas.

it would be good if Luton get Any London clubs at Home in the fa cup 4th round draw Tonight it is always good when Away fans get the whole oak Road stand

I think its terrible, most (some) of the noise and atmosphere is generated by home fans in the Oak Road, when they are dis-homed you get a flat atmosphere like yesterday

declaring now that my season ticket is in the Oak so may have a prejudice view.

I think most of the problem yesterday was that it was a cup tie against a League One team that we didn't play that well in during the first half.

Plus you had 1600 Trotters celebrating getting away from the north so sang loudly all game - they would have gone very quiet on the journey home.
