    Safe standing to increase capacity

Posted by HARRY on 5/1/2024, 12:28:10

Bournemouth have announced they are doing this immeadiately ....should we do it in the Oak Road as everyone there seems to stand anyway....also done properly it could increase capacity?

Where does it say it will increase capacity - each standing position is attached to a seat, so how can it increase capacity?

the seat width of SS is smaller than a regar seat i believe. it can increase capacity.

If you have seats that sit completely flush with the rail, and these can be locked in position, then theoretically you can increase the capacity if the law allows. Think in Germany they allow 1.5 people per seat when those stands are in standing mode.

Can't be much smaller than the seats in the Oak Road!!

                        Which is why people stand.

I think you would possibly only need a smaller 'gap' between home and away fans in Oak if there was safe standing.

Due to it currently being sold as unreserved seating, you need a larger sterile area than if it was sold as safe standing, where you you would need to sell an allocated seat to stand I think?

                          If that makes any sense!

Yes, I think I see what you mean. I quite like "unreserved seating", as long as I get to the ground in time to secure a seat with a decent view.

I heard it does increase capacity if implemented like Dortmund have done in germany? Uk clubs are allowed under legislation to have more than one person per seat space for standing games ...but no club has yet applied for permission to do so?
