According to Twitter - Zambrano might be swept off to United or Brighton... https://www.football365.com/news/man-utd-hijack-luton-zambrano-quito-yoro-lille

Maybe if Sir Gary of Harpenden spent less time playing dressing up and more time doing deals it would have been done weeks ago, and he could have been registered Jan 1

Might just be his club trying to convince Luton to increase the bid to get it done. Previous reports were that there was some haggling over a 15% sell on clause.

Did you see my reply to your post on Tuesday about Johnson and Forest?

I didn't, thanks for flagging. They might be fooked then!

            Let's hope so.

I read somewhere that they have got Nick De Marco acting for them. If so, they must think that there will be a charge against them.

The Shelvey situation that I posted last night also seems very strange.

Perhaps I'm more than slightly ignorant of accountancy procedures, but is there not one way of accountancy that all PL need to sign up to?

Surely it's a black and white issue as to whether you've breached or not?

I'm always fascinated as to how clubs argue the toss. I didn't realise it could be so vague!

Accountants love a loophole. There's actually quite a lot that can be excluded from losses e.g. spend on the youth team, community engagement and infrastructure. It's not hard to imagine some grey areas with those. Plus there are allowances for Covid disruption and they may try to argue some costs are exceptional and should also be allowed without counting against FFP. Everton argued that costs relating to their player who was accused of sexual assault should be excluded, although the panel disagreed.

I have seen references to Forest speaking to the PL about the timing of the Johnson transfer. They claim that his value would have been lower if they sold him before 30 June. As far as I can see, any sale after that date goes into the next year. From an accounting point of view, they can't bring that income forward to 2022/23. Everton seemed to make a similar argument about Richarlison which was rejected.

This won't make his task any easier as he would, effectively, be arguing the opposite to his previous arguments.

Various Premier League Clubs v Everton FC
                Ongoing
Nick has been advising and acting for various Premier League clubs with respect to potential claims they have against Everton FC arising out of Everton’s breaches of Premier League financial spending rules.

Brighton I could understand. Not sure the Utd faithful would be going potty over the signing of a unheard of 19 year old.

Hopefully we've improved our infrastructure for supporting foreign players after the Sluga stuff.

A young lad of Zambrabos age will need constant help and companionship for the first few months.

House, bank account, phone, internet, someone he can talk to, how things work over here, a car or other transport etc etc. other Prem clubs have full teams for this
