Offensive chanting
Posted by Ronnies Finger on 30/12/2023, 9:26:03
With all this talk of Homophobic chanting, wasn’t the club fined and a number of supporters fined a few seasons back at Orient, ?..for aiming some sort of chant to people in the flats on a corner of the ground?
Personally I think the whole thing is blown out of proportion.
Where does it stop? I recall a chant aimed at Adebayo Akinfenwa from a section of our crowd at Wycombe not that long back … it’s coming for you , it’s coming for you, Diabetes, it’s coming for you”
Chants at McNulty “ you fat Bastad” Where does it stop? last week “ The Referees a Wanker”

Ooh, what about, what about, what about...
What about you manage to not sing anything c>untish for a couple of hours so the club doesn't get fined. Can you genuinely not manage that?
Cheers, Jim

One chant that brought a smile to my face was up at Forest when their fans sung to us ‘You’re only here for a season.’
Simple, inoffensive, and funny. I’m sure we could come up with something like that today for Chelsea.

It does bring up the question of when enough censorship is enough.
I personally don't find any of the recently highlighted chants offensive and I don't believe anyone else should either. While we shouldn't go out of our way to offend being able to get a rise out of the opposition fans is part of the joy of football. It is more than what goes on on the pitch and the idea we could lose some of the hostility is a bit sad.
