Message from the club about singing

Posted by College Hatter on 29/12/2023, 20:30:50

I find the wording,'if you don't know what you're singing, don't sing it' rather odd. Does anybody really sing something without knowing what it means? Of course not. Surely it would have been better to simply say, 'please don't sing anything homophobic or racist'.

Luton are indeed covering their arses. But it is in response to the report from the Brighton incident. The club was criticised by the disciplinary panel for not doing enough to deter people singing it and as a result have to produce an action plan ahead of high risk fixtures.

Personally I think this response is a little heavy handed. Not that I would choose to sing these chants of course.

A lot of the young lads didn’t know what a Rent Boy was at Chelsea and found it all rather amusing. They now do know.

Words can be interpreted differently by people as was clearly demonstrated at the Liverpool game.

Sorry to revisit the discussion of many weeks ago. But I still believe that the 'it's never your fault, always the victims chant' not only does not mention Hillsborough, but also no reference to Hillsborough is implied either. It was a chant prompted by the well known habit of Liverpool Football Club and its fans to whine about things, going right back to wasted meat pies through to recent dodgy VAR decisions.

Go ahead and believe that. For my money there's always been that implication.

Not that it matters. If you use absolute language like 'always' and 'never' you really don't get to decide what the recipient chooses to infer.

                Again.

                Cheers, Jim

It's clearly a response to what people said about the always the victims chant.

I have no intention of getting into discussion about those words, but many said they didn't understand the implications so they're covering that.

By making the complaint, the chant was clearly correct. The chant had nothing to do with what they complained about. Hope you are ok A. Wife and I have had a number of issues over the last 2 years, which I suspect 2 other fans may have enlightened you about

Sadly Liverpool prove it true every time though. They may relate it to Hillsborough but that doesn't make it so.

If our truth is it's about Heysel then that's how it is.

I appreciate I fucking hate Liverpool so this may be a slanted response.

It's not moaning about them though, it's about calling them out for a complete lack of respect that Crooks has shown us. Shearer,on the whole, hasn't been too bad. Crooks still can't bring himself to acknowledge his stupid comment about us being relegated by Christmas and not being able to take us seriously.

Communion wine is always mixed with water before it touches anyone's mouth, and very little of the mixture is imbibed by communicants.

It wasn't in my day. There was an ex girlfriend whose Dad used to make his own wine and beer, and was a champion wine maker that supplied the church with his wine. I can tell you without doubt the vicar had a very strong congregation. His wife also did her own pickling of onions etc and they often supplied me with beer, wine, cheese sarnies with pickled onions. If had stayed with that girl, I think that I would not have lasted as long as I have

Part of the process of the Communion service is the mixing of the wine and water in the chalice.

Correct. It is a symbol of the separation of blood and water that spilled from Jesus side on the cross proving that he had not died.

So much of Christianity and acts of worship are wrapped up in symbolism that many call religious acts. They have have deep meaning which is often misunderstood leading to all sorts of ridiculous claims such as people saying they hate organised religion. Well if more than one person wants to get together with someone else to undertake "religious" activities then it necessarily requires organising!!!!
Most religious activity is secondary anyway to the hope we have in Jesus Christ and to try and live our lives replicating that a best we can with the help of the Holy Spirit, the greatest characteristics being love. But love is manifest in many ways; through kindness, generosity, befriending, mercy, discipline, etc. which is why the condition of the heart is so important. People) Christians often get bogged down in anecdotal theological doctrines on all sorts of issues (not least human sexuality) when it should be focussing on bigger issues such as injustice, forgiveness, and reconciliation. God is on our side so we should stop criticising others whom we may have a slightly different opinion on for any given issue.
