    January loans

Posted by Onlooker on 27/12/2023, 12:29:19

Apparently we have been 'inundated' with loan offers.
If this is true, it shows the Townsend and Barklay effect. It also shows that there are a number of managers who see us as the perfect home for some of their fringe players, or those returning from injury.
Bodes well, so long as team morale is unaffected.

So who would you lose for the new loans to come in? Kabore or Albert?

Well there was paper talk of us sending lokonga back and getting another player in a different position on loan. Rumour was it could be smith-Rowe from arsenal so we would have to send lokonga back but then Rob Edwards has said several times he would love to keep lokonga permanently so looks like January will be interesting indeed. I think we should sign that Ecuadorian lad as he is 19 years old probably won't want ridiculous wages and could potentially make big money from him in the future. Josef martinez formerly or inter miami is a free agent now and we were linked with him a striker maybe something could potentially happen there. But gotta trust in big mick and the rest of the recruitment team because they have been 85 percent right with their signings.

Neither. Both have been brilliant for us. Unless it's Martin Ødegaard or some such. But that's not going to happen. 😁

I think the 2 loan limit only applies to loans from other Premier League clubs, doesn't it? So if Bayern or Real fancy lending us Kane or Bellingham...

I do wonder how much City would want for Kabore though, as a permanent deal.

IK will still be costly as he’s contracted till 2027

Maybe one or both could be purchased ?

                    Arsenal paid £17m for Lokonga

I doubt they're going to let him go for less!

If he can stay fit and playing, in the end that might seem pretty small beer. But its still a lot of dough for us

Don’t think it’s the fee that would be the issue, more like wages.
If we go down we can’t be paying a player 60k a week or whatever he’s on at arsenal

Correct. We wouldn’t be paying him £60k in the prem either. I’m sure we’d have to put a relegation clause in any contract for a wage drop if relegated.

Whack a huge sell on percentage might keep the price down?

Buy him for a quid with a clause that they can buy him back for the same amount. Free up a loan place … simples
