Abuse of Players

Doughty taking a corner was given loads of verbal abuse despite a steward standing right next to the guy. We had a reminder of acceptable behaviour at games this week so why don't we see anything done? Personal opinions aside if this is the aim to stamp this behaviour out it would be nice to see it enforced. It was all on TV so the offender can clearly be seen.

The abuse some visiting players take at our place is embarrassing,no imagination just unpleasant.James Ward Prowse for example ,why?

You could see that gobby bloke running along to the front when Doughty took the next corner as well, ready to unleash more verbal. Like you say, he was right next to a useless steward who did f*** all.

The aim is to stamp out behaviour that is racist, homophobic, or that mocks death. Calling an opposition player a wanker is none of those things.

Yes there is definitely a line but the Simon Davies incident just shows how good humoured banter can be.

For those who don't know or recall, SD was warming up as a substitute for Macclesfield in front of H & J block enclosures. We were giving him loads of abuse and he just laughed it off. He got subbed on a few minutes later, and within a few minutes of being on the pitch he'd scored what proved to be the winner for Macclesfield right down at the Kenilworth Road end and when he scored he ran back to J block to celebrate in front of us. We applauded him. All good spirited and how it should be.

Doughty laughed at him and kept saying can't hear you which seemed to wind him up even more, good to give it back when he scored.

After playing at Birmingham City a few seasons ago one of our lot got into a post match discussion with a Birmingham City fan. It was quite amusing when he started saying he couldn't understand him, really wound him up good and proper.

Fair point

We do give it to the oppo at home games. I think our players can take it ! Draw the line at racist bollox but other than that all good.
