Probably by the time anyone actually looked at the fucking traffic sign, such as this is apparently an incredibly rare thing, it was too late for anyone to do anything about it.
Plus, people probably only then noticed it because they'd heard some famous bloke had painted some planes on it.
If he could do something that led to people actually knowing what this the NSL sign means, we could think about giving him an honour for services to the highway code.

Not the real bbb but I've got to say the level of research I've undertaken should be inferred to reflect my level of giving an arse about it. I may have noted that it looked like an American style stop sign, rather than one of ours but, again, don't really care enough to have given it a second look.

the nsl sign is one of the most recognisable signs so im not sure what you are getting at tbh

I understand your confusion. I had originally intended to post a pic of the NSL sign hence the 'this' which I hadn't removed when the pic didn't work.
It may well be a recognisable sign but I'd bet fucking decent money that at least, say, 52% of people with a full UK licence have absolutely no fucking clue what it means. If they even notice it in the first place, which was rather my original point.
