A little bit of David Sylvian and Japan. Never saw them live but wished I had.

Sadly it'll never happen as the original South East London lineup will be without the much underrated musician and guitarist Mick Karn who passed away more than a decade ago now.

Certainly during my college and uni days I used to have the wavy hair, makeup and flouncy shirts, linen suits and Japanese slippers. It was or wasn't a fashion thing.

Bought tickets to see David Sylvian in a one off at the Royal Albert Hall about 10 years ago but he pulled the plug citing health issues a few months before. The only live act I still really want to see. I'm sure if David does re-surface playing it will be his solo stuff. Quiet Life is good but Methods of Dance is even better ;-)

Thank you for putting this on, I think Japan were in the top 5 80’s bands in the synth genre but I always thought I was much cleverer for liking/loving them..
Every album they did was wonderful and even David Sylvian’s solo stuff was good too.

I used to live in the same street as David Sylvian. Bargery Rd, Catford.
