    Interest rates

Posted by Hot Wheels on 14/12/2023, 13:24:35

Sensible decision today but the Tories are saying that it’s “politically motivated”.

The Daily Telegraph massive fail this morning after telling everyone that rates are about to be cut more quickly, not happening.

Do the Tories really think the electorate is going to forgive and forget the last 13 years off the back of a few 0.25% cuts sometime.

Most have had to fix at a much higher rate so it’s already too late.

And let’s not mention Blackpool South either….

The entitlement of today’s generation is staggering. 30 years ago we had 14% and more.

Correct, which made it all the more of a struggle to meet the mortgage repayments as interest rates rose to 15%

Today's generation have never had it so good. Full employment, interest rates so low for more than a decade that they were almost underground, yet once they start to rise all we get is the constant moaning and groaning, "it's unfair, we're struggling, someone should do something about it."

We've been there, welcome to the modern World. Deal with it as we did.

I think you're being a bit naive there. The jobs that were available then have disappeared. Office jobs like shorthand and typing and accounts clerks have all been computerised. No Vauxhalls, Commers, Skefs, etc., just warehousing and fast food.

You also had to borrow significantly less money as house prices were so much cheaper…..

They’ve rose the waiting list up by 6million in 13 years.

Today it went down by 100k and he is claiming victory.

Interest rates have been at a low rate for most of the last 13 years.
It's only recently they have been back to normal.

                  Did I suggest otherwise?

But the Tories desperately trying to be associated with leaving the country with 5%.

                  Just another nail.

                        That is not true.
There was a world-wide crash caused by American financial institutions lending money to people who hadn't a chance of paying it back.

As you would know if you'd taken the least interest in the events of 2008.
