    Respect

We can't be far off what happened in Turkey,is it not time the FA took a hard line against anybody picked up on TV hassleing the refs decisions to receive respective bans.
Time to hammer Managers as well who bring the game into disrepute with post match comments.
Respect should start in the game.

Booing the officials during the warm up on Sunday, singing 2-1 to the ref. etc. FTFA&TFL after every marginal call.

On Sunday I was sure that City dived loads, Lock's was taken out for their first goal and there was both handball & offside for their second.

Watched it all back and could only see maybe 2 fouls given to City that were soft. (Could see a few NOT given for us that should have been).

Think we need to do our part and lay off the refs, call out the diving and playacting more. (G. Jesus was embarrassing, Foden theatrical - making the sport a bit of a joke)

Reasonable comments for sure. That last part is the key and Jesus and Foden were awful. It's within the rules to book them for simulation when they go down as if badly hurt, flop around and then as soon as the ref asks if they want the physio they say "no, I'm okay", get up, limp for a few yards for effect and then go sprinting around again. When someone does that as often as Jesus it should be an easy yellow to give.

Sadly it's a societal issue. There absolutely naf all respect for anything these days.

Even rugby has it's issues these days and that never happened in the past.

But yes I would support a hard-line approach from all sporting authorities.

Imo it starts with the Managers . I sat just behind Pep on Sunday he was continually in the ear of the fourth official. I get emotions can run high when it’s a clear error but he was berating him for 10 minutes about a fucking foul throw…. Umm instead of moaning at the officials spend 10 minutes on the training ground so your players throw it within the rules…it’s not difficult.
Compare him to RE when they scored and it looked like it was handball …fourth official explained it hit him in the face…RE moved away.
Pep walked all the way to the tunnel at half time still moaning at the fourth official.

The ref did cock up when he pulled back for a foul on Haaland when Grealish was through.
Yes the ref cocked up, he’s human.
Grealish wouldn’t have scored anyway, he would have cut inside and passed it backwards!!

It’s Haalands fault for missing 2 easy chance they didn’t win.

I'd love to have seen you go 'brain to brain' with him - there would be only one winner. A very bright man, with carefully thought through and well observed opinions, expressed lucidly, and often
quite acerbically. He had no time for fools, Andy.

It is a great shame that his weakness for alcohol destroyed him, just as it is a (perhaps related) shame that serious injury robbed him of what was already a great playing career.

You - and I - would do well to listen to his words.

Great idea, in principle. Unfortunately it'd be applied the FA way, so the usual suspects will be allowed to carry on as normal, whilst the book will be thrown at the likes Luton, Palace, Wolves or whoever to make a point.

Agreed. The next generation of refs just doesn't seem to be happening. The league my youngest lad players in, there were 28 games scheduled a couple of weeks ago but only 6 refs designated. Why would anyone want to take it up, given the abuse they get? It starts from the top of the game. The PL should be setting an example. A few harsh punishments given out and the the problem is solved.

I watch a fair bit of lower level football now.

In the Hampshire League clubs provide the linesmen, one such "official" was actually berating the ref about not giving yellow cards to the opposition while running the line.

It's pathetic, without the refs there is no game.
