It isn't if they haven't come from France and have no intention of staying there.

Isn’t it ? My understanding is that you are meant to seek asylum in the first safe place you arrive. They aren’t getting in a boat in Syria and surely it’s illegal to try and avoid border controls in a “ safe” country ? Isn’t that why they are called “ illegal immigrants” ?

You keep on banging this drum without understanding international law.
Are you deliberately acting silly here?
We take a 1/3 of refugees compared to France so you expect France and Germany ( we take a 1/4 compared to them ) not to mention other countries to take them all?
It’s almost like you are taking the piss on here.

Am I wrong , I think it’s probably down to interpretation. The below paragraph is what you have pasted. However do you agree they are breaking the law by avoiding France border control ?
Genuine refugees claim asylum in the first safe country. Refugees should or even must claim asylum in the first safe country. The asylum seekers coming to the UK from France are really economic migrants, not refugees, because they didn’t claim asylum in France.

That's your warped interpretation.
Nowhere in the UNHCR rules is there any mention of "first safe country".the

Ok so educate me and tell me how I should interpret the following two sentences which are from the link you posted?
Genuine refugees claim asylum in the first safe country. Refugees should or even must claim asylum in the first safe country.

Scroll further down to the paragraph entitled "how do real refugees actually behave?"
"The fact is that some refugees do not want to stay in the first country they reach, nor are the under any legal obligation to do so"

No wonder you are the Queen of Whataboutery favourite poster…. 😂😂. What I wrote was “ My understanding is that you are meant to seek asylum in the first safe place you arrive “. You post saying wrong. You then post a link which says exactly the same thing as I wrote…
hmmm ….what is it you often write about digging ….we can only see the top of your head …😂😂
It clearly states that no obligation requires them to seek asylum in the first country.
I can’t really help you or anyone for that matter as the uk signed up to this charter.
Let’s say we bombed the shit out of Lebanon ( we did ) and for hearsay a million migrants turned up on the shore of Italy.
You expect Italy to deal with an issue we created?
We reap what we sow my friend.

I don’t disagree with anything you have written other than I couldn’t find anything about moving between countries in the UN 1951 convention also what NAG posted seemed to confirm that they shouldn’t. However I did find an article called fact checker which seems to confirm that they can move through countries providing they don’t stop for “any length of time”. I think the Rawanda idea is ridiculous but I also don’t want people risking their lives crossing the channels in dinghies whilst criminals profiteer. It’s a fucking mess.
My beef is with countries like ours bombing the shite out of countries and then expecting other nations to deal with the aftermath.
Any government claiming they can fix this problem is lying.
As for this Rwanda gibberish, it’s a sick joke made up by idiots that won’t even be in power in 12 months.

I’ll correct that for you - it’s a sick joke born out of the latest in a long line (5 to be precise) of Prime Ministers desperate to try and control the narrative and which has allowed irrelevants such as Mark Francois to take centre stage.
And he’s only one of them. Add the likes of Esther McVey, Andrea Jenkyns, Michael Fabricant etc.
Honestly, how on earth has it been allowed to get this bad?
Posted by The Questioner on 13/12/2023, 21:01:34, in reply to "Re: rwanda bill fail"
So the link NAG posted was incorrect ?
No thanks I was basing my point on what she had posted which you are claiming is incorrect?
Re: rwanda bill fail
Posted by Nearly a Genius on 13/12/2023, 23:03:07, in reply to "Re: rwanda bill fail"
So are you saying the part of the link I posted, which you claimed to have read, which said "they have no legal obligation to do so" (stay in the first country) is not correct? Or are you just ignoring it to suit your bias and false narrative?

You do realise it’s Zed you’re attempting to reason with? His specialty on here is making a tit of himself.
Some people - if his admission is to be believed - have even made him cry when it’s pointed out to him that he’s been a bellend
