As a coffee roaster I would say that you would normally get what you pay for. But that is extortionate anywhere in the world.

For top 10% green beans you pay £10 per kilo and lose 15-18% by weight during the roast.

Add electricity, rates, staff etc. costs for the roaster & then again for the outlet & you shouldn't be paying more than £1.50 (unless they are serving you Nespresso where the extortionate margin goes to Nestle to fund advertising campaigns).

Switzerland is a fabulous country to visit but I remember we arrived late so ate in MacDonald's on our first night . . . that opened my eyes a bit, I almost asked if they were the first branch to gain a Michelin Star!

Last time I was in Switzerland was in 2010. It cost me the equivalent of about £20 for a beer and a gin and tonic! Haven't been back since.

The average wage in Switzerland is three times that of England. Much higher standard of living & with the pound the exchange rate is very poor.

My Mrs said she wanted to go to see a Monkees tribute band in Switzerland. I thought she was joking at first, then I saw her face, now I'm in Geneva.

I did actually, how did you guess? All joking aside I saw a UB40 tribute act in Geneva, they were called WD40. Bit rusty to start with but got much better as their set went on.
