Barkley’s Maradona turn in setting up the goal

Posted by Finchley on 11/12/2023, 21:33:17

His play to set up the goal was absolutely phenomenal. Basically took three of their players out of the game and created space for Doughty/Townsend before laying it off to them. Unreal level of confidence, calmness and ability.

He can’t be that good he hasn’t got into Garth Crook’s team of the week. FACT

Good job it worked for him, had he lost the ball to any of those players we would have been under great danger of conceding.

        Foolhardy, but brilliant.

FFS, is this how football has got.
Let's not bother with individual skill, just tippy tappy passing and making sure you don't make the slightest mistake.
Slowly losing interest in modern day football!

Rolls Royce of a player to be fair.

We’re laymen, everyone that makes it to this level is bloody good and would hand most mortals their arses. There is a select few that are mustard however, regardless whether or not they go on to win a World Cup or a Champion’s League.

Barkley is a cut above, the fact his career has flatlined a bit in recent years is irrelevant, he’d fit into some big sides with no issue at all. Watch him for a few minutes and it’s plain to see he’s head and shoulders above a whole host of players currently plying their trade in the PL….

Well, if that was REALLY true, he wouldn’t be playing for Luton Town.

It’s easy to look like a Rolls Royce player when you are playing with a bunch of Championship players.

Would he look Rolls Royce at a big club? No. He didn’t exactly set the world on fire at Chelsea.

Good player but looks better than he is in a (justifiably) poor team.

Best player on pitch against Arsenal and City in my opinion.

                Exactly.

As I said previously, not every quality player goes in to win WC’s and CL’s, the same as the likes of Jamie Vardy wouldn’t have been spotted if one person that mattered hadn’t been there on a given day- presumably he’d been missed by plenty by the time he was spotted.

Barkley has run rings around the opposition on several occasions, all of which are elite footballers. It makes no odds at all if he was playing in a pub team, it’s the opposition he’s playing against surely?

Liverpool goal- most players would have punted that into row Z. Arsenal game, likes of Declan Rice singing his praises, City game, our would doesn’t happen without his quality…..What the hell has the team he is playing for matter in those situations?
