    Ross Barkley

I'm a huge fan, he's been incredible, but the amount of rubbish being spouted about him being our best ever player, seriously. He's only played about 10 games and the first few he was finding his feet. The last couple of months he's been amazing. But people daring to say he is better than Ricky Hill are either stupid or deluded or just too young to have seen Ricky Hill and therefore cant really comment. He performed at the absolute top level every single week for what, about 11 years!

I think he's better than Kurt Nogan.

I might be wrong but the few posts Iíve seen about this said that heís our best player since Ricky Hill.

Which of course means that they are not saying that heís better.

Given that we only played for a further 3 seasons in the top division after Ricky left, that this is our first season back there for over 30 years, that our midfield in the last year in the top league included Chris Kamara, and that Barkley is an experienced former England international that seemingly has more to give I donít think itís in any way controversial to say that he is likely the best all round midfielder weíve had SINCE Hill.

I do get the Barkley hype and he's been superb for us the past few weeks - both ability and attitude - but it is comparing a few weeks with the best part of 15 years

In fairness Iíd imagine most saying that would be in their 20ís and younger. In which case they are probably right. My son is 24 and therefore most of his supporting life has been conference upwards.
Those of us that were around for our 80ís team would have seen Ricky play top level with us for 10 years as opposed to 10 games for RB as you say. Having said that I think Ross has been sensational for the last few games and itís a real pleasure to watch him and he is a level above anyone in a Luton shirt for a long time.

Totally agree, he's an outstanding player and a level above the rest of the team and the most talented for decades. Just think it ridiculous to say he's the best ever when Ricky Hill clearly deserves that title!

I'm not sure I've ever made the noise I made when he played THAT pass against Palace.

                  Certainly not at KR, anyway...

Itís wonderful that younger generations of our support are enjoying the same pride as we felt forty years ago in seeing us competing in the top flight against one of the best teams in the land and arguably having the best player on the pitch.
I donít begrudge any hyperbole, canít really as I got a tad carried away myself Tuesday night/Wednesday morning!

Since Ricky the player Iíve enjoyed watching the most was JLV. Under big Joe, I remember him doing at least two to three exceptional things a game that would literally stun the crowd. Apart from the magnificent goals I remember him dropping his shoulder in one game and four players went the wrong way

Also the way JLV used to run with the ball at his feet, seemingly passing between feet, whilst running at full pelt. A joy to watch. Gutted when he left.
