Where do we go from here?

Gutting to say the least, but I think we can all see the issues that we have. Only 2 wins in 15 is whatever way you spin it is relegation form. When you're down at the bottom, it's all about taking the opportunities when they come up. Wolves, Tottenham with 10 men, Liverpool last min, Arsenal last minute. You could argue we aren't expected to win most of those, but the opportunity was there, and we haven't taken it

Our final 8 games are as favourable as it gets just hang on in there and just just don't know.

We've just taken one of the best sides in Europe to the wire. Its not like we lost 2-0 at home to Port Vale.

I've been saying this for a while...we've had the chance to have more points than we've got.

I fully accept staying up would be a massive achievement and have no problem going down, especially if we go fighting like we did today, but....

That's 3 games now where we've conceded immediately after scoring, Burnley, Palace and today. That needs to stop. It cost us points against Burnley and easily could've against Palace.
We played Tottenham and Wolves at home and both had 10 men for over half a game. Not good enough to get 1 point from that.

Arsenal and Liverpool two last minute goals. Yes you can argue that we shouldn't be expecting anything from those games, but we've got a point when we could have 4. Mental that I'm even in a position to be complaining about not getting 4 points from Liverpool and Arsenal but here we are.

Away from home, showed too much respect to Fulham and Brentford. Fulham particularly we could've got a result.

A bit more ruthless and we're where wolves are

Yeah we really should be at least 4 points better off than we are. Hang on tonight and against Liverpool, and just focus for five minutes against Burnley and we could be sitting lower mid table.

In a way it's positive, as we're close to getting really good results, but as the weeks pass, they could have been points that keep us up.

Totally agree with this post, we have certainly let a good few points slip away. My Fulham supporting mate text me after tonight’s game and said Luton are a better side than them, and he can’t believe they have 6 more points!

Fulham really have had more than their fair share of good fortune this season.

We’re still improving and we’re still above relegation. If Kenilworth Road becomes a fortress and we dare to play a little more offensively away the points will start trickling in.

It’s so 1974/75 but this time we will have more points at the halfway stage. We are improving in many areas but then just switch off and learn another lesson. Home form is key against the bottom half teams.

agree getting better every game, just switch off occasionally

Could easily have 15 points. But we haven't

There’s a tendency among fans though to only remember our missed opportunities / late goals conceded. Spurs and Liverpool squandered a hatful of chances. Palace hit the post in the last minute. Everton could have been 3-0 up before we scored etc. We rescued a point late on against Forest - if we can do that why can’t other teams. Having said that we should have beaten Wolves and got at least a point at Fulham!

Yeah I get that. Doesn't detract from the fact we could easily have 15 points by now

                          Fair point.

Still, play like we did today and we'll beat most other teams

We're not in relegation zone. Teams performing worse even though spanked more money. Go have a lay down somewhere & come back in a few years, hopefully you would have grown a pair by then.

We need to stop conceding so many goals

Until we conceded 7 in last 2 we haven’t actually conceded that many. We also have 2 starting CBs and 2 other CBs injured. And both defensive midfielders were unavailable today. If we can consistently play Lockyer, Osho, Mengi, Nakamba and/or Lokonga we won’t concede that many

It's not just the conceding. It's the way we do it. Basically gifting goals through either switching off or Sunday league defending.
That said, it was superb to see us go at them tonight.

Re: Where do we go from here?

I think Bell’s best position at Premier League level is probably wing-back, and he is behind Doughty. May well find himself on bench when Lockyer is back, although I assume Doughty will be on the right this Sunday with Kaboré ineligible.

Tonight’s defending was a mixture of brilliant and comical! Feeling absolutely gutted.
