    Everton, Dyce and VAR

So Dyche is whinging and whining about VAR involvement for man Utd's second goal yesterday.

For me, that was absolutely the correct use of VAR when Martial was initially booked for a dive when in fact clear contact was made which brought him down in the penalty area so the yellow card was immediately rescinded and a penalty kick awarded. It was a clear and obvious error.

Very disappointed in Dyche about that, thought he was better than that.

Clear and obvious error from a ref who had a clear view from 10 yards away

Surely the important thing here is that the right decision was made in the end even if it wasn't originally. Have you never made an incorrect decision in your professional career before?

On a different note, looks like we dodged a bullet with Ashley Young.

I thought he would be offed for that foul, with a 2nd yellow?

Now that would have wound Dyche up!!

Is that 'offed' in the mafia sense of the word?

He whinged about what is clear and obvious but his biggest gripe was why the need for the ref to go over to the screen when everyone knows that he will go with the decision made by VAR. A complete waste of time which I do agree with.

It's mind games for future refs.

Yes, it was one of those rare cases where it all worked properly. Can also see why the ref got it wrong to start with but it was the right decision in the end.
